The Philippine Taekwondo Association was established in the mid-70s to propagate the Korean martial art sport in the country.
GRAND MASTER HONG
Under the leadership of it’s CEO Grandmaster Sung Chon Hong, Taekwondo has become the number one martial arts in the country with over a million practitioners and a network that spans 19 regions including the NCR and the provincial regions with Regional Management Committees tasked to developed the premier Olympic martial art sport all over the archipelago.
The Philippine National Team
Among the key departments that the PTA manages includes the National Team, the TBB & TBS Blackbelt group, the Junior TBB and TBS and the PTC Blackbelt group and the tournament system with seven major national championships including Carlos Palanca Jr., the New Face of the Year, All Women, the Nationals, the MVP Best of the Best, National Age Group, the National Inter-School.
It has developed the Philippine Taekwondo League which this year will be on its third year giving top-caliber players from the UAAP & NCAA schools a venue to showcase and enhance their taekwondo talents further.
This year the PTA strives to implement its planned roadmap to the 2016 Brazil Olympic Games first-ever gold medal quest to capitalize on its current roster of national team talents supported by main benefactor Smart Sports/MVP Sports Foundation and the PSC-POC.
