Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 30) — In an optimistic buildup to the 2017 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, sports officials set a goal: at least 50 gold medals from the Philippine delegation to Kuala Lumpur.
But with the dust finally settling on the 11-day competition covering 38 sports and participated in by 11 countries, reality bit. The Philippines failed to reach even the halfway mark of their ambitious target.
The Philippines ended its campaign with a paltry 24 gold medals, 33 silver medals, and 64 bronze medals.
